The Project:
Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the activities of the Federal Ministry of Transport, the Management of SURE-P, the Management of Nigeria Railways Corporation, and all the Contractors involved in railway procurements during 2010-2014.

In the period under reference, the Nigerian Railway Corporation and Federal Ministry of Transportation executed scores of contracts for railway infrastructure rehabilitation, construction of new standard gauge tracks, feasibility studies for new standard gauge track, workshop and maintenance of way equipment , signalling and telecom upgrades, procurement and rehabilitation of rolling stock, stations rehabilitation among others. Whereas the NRC has expended sums in excess of N100bn on these capital programmes. The FMT has also expended considerable sums on railway capital programmes for standard gauge tracks. As at December 2015, $792m (N160bn) had been paid to CCECC for the Abuja-Kaduna line. Nearly N20bn had been expended on the Ajaokuta-Warri line.

To review and advise the committee on discrepancies in contract procurement and execution.
